APM Spamthread

APM push lol.

I'm not APM pushing.

It's just that I'm an SC player, and in SC you always have to do something - that's why I've got a habit of keeping my APM high, which in other games translates to inflating my APM in downtimes.

In SC I average about 200 APM and I barely spam (got some bad habits after playing WC3 for two years).

And by the way, what method are you using to calculate APM? It seems closer to an ordinary click counter as opposed to something like BWChart (no offence, I'm not trying to belittle your APM counter, it's a great service for the community). Maybe that's just an impression, but I don't think I've hit the 150 APM (average) in any RA3 game by BWChart scale, as I've played at a relatively moderate pace (compared to my SC games, which are much more intense yet I only get like 180-210 APM).

Right now we are takeing all actions which are in the replay file (EA allready has some action filters in - meaning we couldn't even provide a click counter if we wanted to). We have a filter on scroll-apm. Aside from that we don't have any apm-spamfilters in yet - so i would assume your "keeping your fingers warm" shows up in the counter (depending on what you do).

It's really hard to compare apm between different games, it all depends on how the informations are saved in the replay and what is saved.

edit: here's a list which actions are included: http://www.united-forum.de/haeufig-gestellte-fragen-f20/united-forum-apm-faq-76450/ (in the spoiler tags - all actions in german though)

I don`t get it. I mean in SC u are doing important stuff all the time, in RA 3 u have like nothing to so, so u just keep hammerhing on ur keyboard?

Exactly, well, not "hammering the keyboard" - I simply switch between control groups, etc.

If you'd played SC for couple years straight and then switched to a game like RA3 you'd've probably had an easier time understanding my perspective. SC is a really demanding game to play competitively, this is true for mechanics too. If you're used to playing at that kind of pace it's really hard to to get out of a habit like that, especially within couple weeks' time. :) (To play under 100 APM I'd have to actually myself to do that. T___T)

Also remember that playing RA3 didn't feel like more than 150 APM in SC terms.

lol, I'm not playing any game RTS game right now - I'm focusing on school right now, graduating in May. And I wasn't good by SC standards (D+/C- range on iCCup, never had time to really improve).

I just wanted to see what my APM was when I still played beta after noticing the APM chart link in Moof's singature at GameReplays. ^______^
